Meet the Team!
Meet Guy! The second generation of Pasquinis to run our family business and such a coffee legend, we think he has espresso running through his veins. Guy is a technical advisor and mainly works in sales to help find the best machine for you. He loves working with cafes and shops to offer his expertise on everything from the menu, beans, pricing, machines to training, service and workflow. He was born right here in Highland Park and started working with his dad in the family business shortly thereafter. He's lived and worked in Italy at the Cimbali factory where he learned everything about machine assembly, design, electrical and now he's the go-to guy (pun intended) for making the perfect espresso. You'll find him hiking with his dog Koa on the weekends and loves his Friday night dinner and movie dates with Jill. And somehow he finds the time to play roller hockey during the weekday. Everyone who meets him loves his charm, warmth and stories. Stop by our showroom to have him make you a classic Italian espresso. He prefers the nutty coffee beans like Gusto, Top or Intenso and thinks espresso is a treat and therefore best served with 2 packets of sugar. Mmmmm.
This is Jill! She’s co-owner, the second Mrs. Pasquini, officially mama to Brendan and Jonathan but really mama to all of us. She’s the sweetest and kindest and smartest woman we know. She runs the back house of the business — the accounting department, web orders, payroll, billing and procurement. She loves cycling and Pilates but her big passion is animals. She has 4 cats and Koa, the legendary Pasquini pup. Jill also has a keen interest in mental health and is hopeful she can develop a project where she can private label coffee where 100% of the proceeds will benefit a mental health non-profit (tell a friend!). Her favorite coffee bean is Gusto and her favorite coffee drink is an affogato (See, we told you she was neat).
Meet Brendan! He’s the third generation of Pasquinis to run the family business. You probably recognize him from our how-to videos on Stories and IGTV. He does most of the day-to-day operations and deals with our Italian imports. He started in the family business officially when he was 16 doing packaging in the roasting room and then got a business degree at Loyola Marymount University here in LA. He always knew he wanted to stay in the family business so it was fun for him to take all his college lessons and apply them in the real-world right away. His favorite coffee is Portioli’s Gusto for it’s heavy body and rich crema, Yuuummm! He challenges all new-wave coffee aficianados to try it for the best of surprises! And just like Jill, he loves a good pour-over and Americano. On the weekends you can find him mountain biking and teaching at LA River Yoga. His favorite recommendation is to learn to love your grinder! He hears lots of complaints of people not liking their machine but he’s willing to bet that 9/10 of those people have a perfectly fine machine but don’t have their grinder set correctly.
Online Order Specialist
This is Jonathan! The youngest Pasquini we have left to introduce from our working family here. He does all the shipping and packing for the web orders and has been doing that since we moved to Frogtown but he’s been around the family business for as long as he can remember. And take a seat because Jonathan’s favorite bean is DECAF! Yep, you heard right. He loves it as a latte with regular milk. Or a cold brew made with Top. When he’s not packaging orders and making coffee, he’s studying psychology at LACC and playing the guitar. His best tip to share is to clean your machine after each use because the buildup of gunk is harder to clean the longer you wait.
Meet Rob! Rob’s been with us in the Pasquini family for 6 years now as a service technician. There’s not much he doesn’t know about fixing your machine! He’s done it all. If your commercial machines need repairs on the weekend or after hours, he’s your guy. You can follow him @caffeine_scramjet for all the BTS on tricky repairs. You might also see glimpses of his life outside of coffee with his love of fostering cats and his passion for gardening and fruit trees. His favorite coffee is Gusto and loves it as a double breve (a latte with half-n-half). He’s also a fan of single origin beans — especially Ethiopian — because of their natural sweetness and the balance between chocolate & fruity notes. He makes a fantastic cup of coffee! Come say hello and ask for his specialties.
Meet Mike! He’s been a service technician here at Pasquini for about three years now. He’s always quietly tinkering on something here and we’re so grateful for his hard work. When he’s not on Coffee Time he’s doing what everyone else here likes to do — cycling! But he’s also into motor sports and loves taking his modified Fiat, an Abarth, to the race track. A real speed racer! Like so many others, his favorite bean is Gusto and loves making a cortado. Yummmm. He digs a pour over, too. Yay Mike!
Service Coordinator – Home Division
Meet Rory! He's our Service Coordinator and an integral part of our family business. He's your guy when you are coordinating the repair or service of your machine. Make sure to ask him about the personal blog he's getting ready to launch, his love of baseball or his experience in the film industry. Here's two tips he wants to share with you to keep your machine running as it should -- filter your water correctly. That's actually the #1 reason people need their machines repaired! He also kindly asks that you clean your steam wand. Because, WOW, he's got some stories about ones that aren't clean. His favorite bean is Suave and he loves a cold brew.
Service Coordinator – Commercial Division
Meet Colin! Colin is our final Pasquini team member to introduce to you — now you know all of us! Colin works with Jill in the back office doing invoices, coordinating with the technicians, taking photos for the website, and reorganizing the warehouse (for a SUPER cool new project coming soon). He does it all! His favorite coffee bean we sell is Portioli's Bar as a hot americano. He digs cold brew, too. And his best advice for taking care of your machine? Change the filter! If you don’t, you’ll slowly destroy your machine (check out our website for more details about water and filters). When he’s not here doing everything in Pasquini Land, Colin is a writer and voice director. Check out his audio drama @the_loyalists So happy to have you back, Colin!
