FAQs

If you just turn on the Livia GP espresso power switch, the machine will be ready to make espresso in under 3 minutes. If you switch on both the espresso power switch and steam/water power switch, the espresso is still ready in 3 minutes while the steam/hot water boiler takes approximately 5-7 additional minutes.

Both machines share the same core platform — SpiraFlow group head, TrueTemp PID, dedicated 1.5L stainless steel steam boiler, dual pump system, and quarter-turn commercial valves. The Automatic adds volumetric programming (two user-programmable shot volumes via a commercial-grade flowmeter) and a built-in shot timer on the PID display. If you want want the convenience and ease of use of programmable shot buttons, go with the Livia GP Automatic. If you are more hands on and prefer manual controls then go with the Livia GP Manual and put the savings towards a high quality Acaia scale.

No. The SpiraFlow group head is designed to maintain a stable brewing temperature without overheating, eliminating the need for cooling flushes before pulling a shot. It can also produce multiple espressos in a row without temperature loss.

The TrueTemp PID allows you to set and monitor your brewing temperature. Unlike systems that measure temperature farther from the coffee, the Livia GP measures the actual group head temperature at the water inlet. This allows the heating system to react almost immediately, so the water reaches the coffee at exactly the temperature you programmed.

Yes. The Livia GP Automatic uses a commercial-grade flowmeter and lets you program two different shot volumes. Once programmed, press the desired button and the machine automatically stops the shot at the selected volume. You can also brew manually if you prefer complete control over when the shot starts and stops.

Yes and no. Only the Livia GP Automatic is equipped with a shot timer. The shot time is built into the PID display and activates any time one of the three brew buttons is selected. The Livia GP Manual does not come with a shot timer.

The Livia GP has a 1.5-liter stainless steel boiler dedicated entirely to steaming and hot water. Because espresso brewing operates on a completely separate circuit, the boiler provides nearly 20% more steam capacity than a similarly sized heat-exchange boilers. It is factory set to 2 bar of pressure, producing powerful, dry steam for quickly creating microfoam for cappuccinos, lattes, and other milk-based drinks.

Instead of requiring several turns of a knob to fully open the steam or hot water valve, the Livia GP's commercially rated valves go from fully closed to fully open with just a quarter turn (90 degrees). This makes the controls quicker and more comfortable to use while reducing wear on the internal valve components.

The Livia GP uses two vibration pumps on separate circuits — one for brewing espresso and one for filling the steam boiler. This gives the brewing system the natural pre-infusion characteristics of a vibration pump without boiler refilling ever interfering with espresso preparation. The brewing circuit includes an OPV (over-pressure valve) factory calibrated to 9 bar to maintain proper brewing pressure, and the dual-pump design reduces strain on individual components, improving long-term reliability and lowering repair costs.

Yes. Two built-in LED barista lights illuminate the workspace above the drip tray, making it easier to see your espresso, cup, and scale — especially in kitchens with lower lighting.

Yes. The Livia GP uses a side-loading water tank, so you never need to access the top of the machine to refill it — especially convenient under kitchen cabinets. And because there's no top-mounted tank lid, the cup-warming surface extends across the entire top of the machine.

The Livia GP includes a 12-month parts and labor warranty. For complete information on coverage and exclusions, see the Pasquini Performance Warranty.
